An update to our submissions procedure…

From the 1st January 2020, we’re introducing a new rule regarding our submissions procedure:

In order to submit a manuscript for consideration for print publication, you must first purchase a book (either print or eBook) from our online bookshop.

We’re introducing this rule for the following reasons:

  1. To encourage people to engage with our books. If you’re serious about publishing with us, you should be familiar with the types of books we publish. This will also help writers to decide if we’re the best fit for their work.
  2. To help with cash flow by increasing our direct sales. Reading is a necessary and enjoyable part of running a press, but it is time-consuming. The increase in direct sales will help pay for our time and allow us to keep submissions open year-round.
  3. To reduce the number of submissions we receive. We receive a lot of submissions, many of which are completely at odds with our submission criteria. We’d rather spend our time considering work that fits our criteria than rejecting work that doesn’t.

If you have any questions about this rule, please get in touch. We’ll keep a list of FAQs below.
