Flash fiction coming up in November 2021

We have some fantastic flash fiction lined up for November. Here’s a little taster to whet your appetite:

5 November 2021 – ‘Blue Glass’ by Jakob Angerer:

The Boy beamed as his Mother carefully placed the cool rocks into the pockets of his shorts, smiling when they clacked together. He gazed across the loch, the pink sky growing golden as the tired dawn stretched behind the distant mountains.

12 November 2021 – ‘A Hole in November’ by Pádhráic Quinn:

Running for a ball in the playground my face collided with Mr. Belson’s leg. I fell, tore both trouser and skin. He spilt coffee, shouted, then gave me detention. So now I’m late walking home and the cool air breathing through the hole over my knee is dimpling my skin.

19 November 2021 – ‘No Woman with Ghosts’ by Eleanor Walsh:

There’s a fox spread out like an unfinished tapestry on the road that leads to the police station. Its innards – exposed to overnight rain – are sluiced pale pink and continue a long way up the road. I change lanes to avoid its ironed-out hide that’s laid out on the tarmac.

26 November 2021 – ‘Crochetwork’ by Martha J Allard:

Adelia remembers her youth through a kaleidoscope of silk and lace. She sees only snatches of the strong girl she was, all dark hair and wild laugh. Now frailty envelopes Adelia in its arctic, needle-like embrace.
