Where Oceans Meet by Heather McQuillan



We’re delighted to announce Reflex Press will be publishing Where Oceans Meet, the debut flash fiction collection from New Zealand author Heather McQuillan.

The collection features sixty-one flash fictions including ‘A Post-Traumatic God’, winner of Best Small Fictions 2019, and ‘Trampolining in the Matukituki’ winner of New Zealand National Flash Fiction Day 2016.

About the author

Heather McQuillan was born in 1960 in Maidstone, Kent. Eighteen months later she travelled the ocean with her parents to Christchurch, Aotearoa/New Zealand. Heather is a teacher with a Bachelor of Education and Master of Creative Writing from Massey University. In 2015 she won the Tom Fitzgibbon Award for a children’s novel. Her junior novels made the Storylines Notable Books List in 2006 and 2012. Awards include NZ Flash Fiction Day winner 2016, third place Sunday Star-Times Short Story 2016, Best Small Fictions 2017, third place Reflex Fiction Spring 2017, Australian CLA Best Prose Prize 2018, and BestMicrofiction 2019.
